| Mordecai Plantation | Located in Raleigh. The historic Modecai House was once the seat of one of the largest plantation owners in Wake County and multiple buildings of the era are restored and preserved on this site. The St. Mark's Chapel was built circa 1847 by the slave carpenters of John H. Haughton (deed signed by Lawrence Haughton), many of which were the same slave carpenters that built the Haughton-McIver House, now the site of BelleHavre. The St. Mark's Chapel was orginally built near Gulf and Haughton's slaves were baptized in the chapel and worshiped there from the gallery. The Chapel was moved in 1979 to the Mordecai Plantation and is now used for weddings and other events. raleighnc.gov/mordecai | | Seagrove Potteries | Over 100 pottery dealers, seagrovepotteryheritage.com | | Carnivore Preservation Trust | Home of exotic carnivores (Jaguars, Leopards, Tigers, etc), cptigers.org/news/2006quarrantine.asp | | NC Arts Incubator | A Place for Art and Artists located in Siler City, ncartsinc.org/about.html | | Triangle Recreation Sites | carolinacountry.com/seencpages/travel guide/triangle/parksrec.html | | Southern Supreme Gourmet Confections | World Famous Fruitcakes. sosupreme.com/sosupreme_cs/default.asp? | | Historic Sanford | downtownsanford.com | | Cameron Antiques | antiquesofcameron.com/shops.htm and http://themx.info/moore/Antiques%20And%20Collectables%20in%20the%20Sandhills%20NC/antique_dealers.htm | | Carthage Antiques | townofcarthage.org/parksandrec.htm Favorite Shop: Ouida's Antiques of Sweet Carthage, 310 Monroe St., Carthage, NC | | Pinehurst, Site of US Open | pinehurst.com/index2.asp | | Raleigh, North Carolina Capital | raleigh-nc.org/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_2_306_209_0_43/http%3B/pt03/DIG_Web_Content/category/Leisure/Arts_Attractions_and_Museums/Cat-1C-20041119-125418-Historic_Sites.html | | Fayetteville | discoverfayetteville.com/ | | NC Zoo | nczoo.org/ | | NC Historic Sites | itpi.dpi.state.nc.us/nchistorical/default.html | | Cotton Farms | nccotton.org/links.html | | Tobacco Farms | ncagr.com/markets/commodit/horticul/tobacco/ |
